Location
The wines of the Cotes du Roussillon products are 118 towns in the Pyrénées Orientales, between the various reliefs (Canigou Albères south and Corbières to the north) and the Mediterranean. This appellation area is crossed by three rivers (the Tet, the l'Agly and Tech) that have shaped this region. The surface of the label is approximately 4500 hectares.
Nature of Soil
The wines of the Cotes du Roussillon are produced in a large granitic and gneissic for Valley l'Agly and brown shale at the foot of Albères. Areas near the Corbieres are rather chalky clay and they are flabby silty clay in the Catalan country.
Men and Wine
The wines of the Cotes du Roussillon are produced in volume around 160,000 hectoliters. Rosé wine Cotes du Roussillon dominates production (56%) before the red wine Cotes du Roussillon (39%). A note on a special white varieties are used for white wines of the Cotes du Roussillon : Maccabeu and Malvasia.
